Amazon Publishing

Categories :

Hey all, great news, I just did my first Amazon Kindle Publishing. It is a challenge, not so much to produce the publication itself; Amazon does have quite a good help there, but with the surrounding process, what you can and can’t state, what text should be where, and so on. It is an ongoing process, so check back later to learn how it has gone and what valuable lessons I have learned from this. Also, if you click the image and buy a book, I will earn a few cents on it. Just so you know. 🙂

Well, first off, uploading your documents is relatively easy. It should be doable for everyone. Creating your cover, however, is a lot more painful, as the tool provided is somewhat buggy. A spine is required, yet the tool tends to make it much too small and then complain that the spine is too small. I brute-forced it by uploading my own spine. This was attempt 38 or so and maybe Amazon got sick of reviewing my designs and simply accepted it.

Unfortunately, that is not the end of the process. You have to continue the sale of your book or books. Amazon will do no marketing for you. At the time of writing, my books have been out there for six weeks, and total sales still are zero. Of course, Amazon is more than willing to assist. For a price.
